1. Introduction

This product provides data and voice in a USB adapter. It lets you use e-mail, access internet and make phone call direct form your PC without any telephone line.

Note:

If any of these items are missing from the retail package, contact your supplier immediately.

4. Setup for Windows 98

1. Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are at the Windows 98 operating system.

2. Insert the device into the USB slot on your PC. The system will recognize the device. It will show "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. Please insert the driver diskette and click the "Next" button.

3. Select "Search for the Best Driver for your device (Recommended)", click the "Next" button.

4. Select "Floppy disk drives" then click the "Next" button.

5. Click the "Next" button, the driver then installs itself. If windows require for Windows 98 source diskette, insert the CD-ROM or disks as needed, direct Windows to the proper location, and then click the "OK" button.

6. Click the "Finish" button to complete the installation process.

5. Setup for Windows 2000

1. Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are at the Windows 2000 operating system.

2. Insert the device into the USB slot on your PC. The system will recognize the device. It will show "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. Please insert the driver diskette and click the "Next" button.

3. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended)", click the "Next" button.

4. Select "Floppy disk drives" then click the "Next" button.

5. Click the "Next" button, the driver then installs itself.

6. After copying the driver files, click the "Finish" button to next step.  

7. The system will recognize the device again. It will show "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. Click the "Next" button.

8. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended)", click the "Next" button.

9. Select "Floppy disk drives" then click the "Next" button.

10. Click the "Next" button, the driver then installs itself.

11. After copying the driver files, the device installation is completed. Click the "Finish" button.

6. Setup for Windows ME

1. Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are under Windows ME operating system.

2. Insert the device into the USB slot on your PC. The system will recognize the device. It will show "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. Select "Automatic search for a better driver (Recommended)" and insert the driver diskette and click the "Next" button.

3. The system will search and recognize the driver of the device. Then  Windows will automatically copy the driver files and related files into the system. 

4. After copying the driver files, the device installation is completed. Click the "Finish" button.  

7. Setup for Windows XP

1. Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are under Windows XP operating system.

2. Insert the device into the USB slot on your PC. The system will recognize the device. It will show "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. Select "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" and insert the driver diskette and click the "Next" button.

3. The Windows will search and recognize the driver of the device, then show one message. Please click the "Continue Anyway" button, then Windows will automatically copy the driver files and related files into the system.

4. After copying the driver files, click the "Finish" button to next step.  

5. The system will recognize the device again. It will show "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. Select "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" and click the "Next" button.

6. Click the "Continue Anyway" button.

7. After copying the driver files, the device installation is completed. Click the "Finish" button.

8. Uninstall

Uninstall the driver under Windows 98/ME system

1. Double click the "Add/Remove Programs" icon under "Control Panel".

2. Select item "FTDI USB to serial Converter Drivers" and click the "Add/Remove..." button.

3. Then Windows will pop-up one "GPRS wireless modem" dialog box, click the "Continue" button.

4. Click the "Finish" button.

5. Click the "OK" button to close this window, the device Uninstallation is completed. 

Uninstall the driver under Windows 2000/XP system

1. Double click the "Add or Remove Programs" icon under "Control Panel".

2. Select item "GPRS wireless modem" and click the "Change/Remove" button.

3. Then Windows will pop-up one "FTDI Uninstaller Version 2.1" dialog box, click the "Continue" button.

4. Click the "Finish" button.

5. Click the "Close" button to close this window, the device Uninstallation is completed.  

 

Appendix A. Installing mobile PhoneTools

To install mobile PhoneTools on your hard drive, insert the CD-ROM containing the program in the appropriate drive.When installing mobile PhoneTools from the CD-Rom, the installation process starts automatically.

Should the installation program not start, execute the following instructions:
1.Select the Run command from the Start menu (accessible from the task bar).
2.Select the drive that contains the CD or type D:SETUP (D: represents the CDRom drive).
3.Click OK to run the file.

An installation wizard will guide you step-by-step through the installation process,
prompting for information where needed. During the installation process the content of the CD-Rom is copied onto your hard drive and a program group is created to hold the application icons for mobile PhoneTools.

After installation, the online registration wizard is automatically launched (see Online registration, page 6). The registration is necessary to benefit from the guarantee, the technical assistance, and free upgrades.

Depending on the operating system, when the installation process is completed, the installation wizard asks you to restart your computer so that all system changes take effect.

The mobile PhoneTools program group is then accessible from the Start menu (from the task bar) and the following icon is automatically added to your desktop:

Note: after installation when launching the application for the first time:
- if no modem has been selected, a popup window prompts you to choose a modem from a list or to have your installed mobile modem automatically detected. If you select the Select modem option, make certain that your mobile phone is correctly connected to your computer and that it is turned on.
- if one modem is installed and correctly detected by the application, you do not need to intervene.
