Appendix A. Install the Softex OmniPass software

1. Introduction

Convenience and security are the two primary concerns as a mobile computer user. The USB Fingerprint Reader has the unique ability to grant access to your computer and to protect the important files without having to remember or type passwords.

4. Setup for Windows 98

1. Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are running the Windows 98 operating system.

2. Insert the device into the USB slot on your PC. The system will recognize the device and display the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. Please insert the driver CD and then click the "Next" button.

3. Select "Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)", then click the "Next" button.

4. Select "Specify a location" and type "F:\USB Fingerprint Driver" (where F:\ is the path of your CD-ROM drive) in the location or you can click the "Browse" button to select, then click the "Next" button.

5. Click the "Next" button, the driver then installs itself.

6. Click the "Finish" button to complete the installation process.

5. Setup for Windows ME

1. Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are running the Windows ME operating system.

2. Insert the device into the USB slot on your PC. The system will recognize the device and display the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. Select "Automatic search for a better driver (Recommended)" and insert the driver CD then click the "Next" button.

3. The driver then installs itself. After copying the driver files, click the "Finish" button to complete the installation process.

6. Setup for Windows 2000

1. Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are running the Windows 2000 operating system.

2. Insert the device into the USB slot on your PC. The system will recognize the device and display the "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. Select "Install the software automatically (Recommended)", insert the driver CD then click the "Next" button.

3. Select "CD-ROM drives" then click the "Next" button.

4. After Windows finds the driver. Click the "Next" button.

5. Click the "OK" button.

6. Click the "Finish" button to complete the installation process.

7. Setup for Windows XP

1. Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are running the Windows XP operating system.

2. Insert the device into the USB slot on your PC. The system will recognize the device and display the "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. Select "Install the software automatically (Recommended)", insert the driver CD then click the "Next" button.

3. Windows will search for and recognize the driver of the device, then display one message. Please click the "Continue Anyway" button. Windows will then automatically copy the driver files and related files into the system.

4. Click the "OK" button.

5. After copying the driver files, click the "Finish" button to complete the installation process.

Appendix A. Install the Softex OmniPass software

Softex OmniPass provides password management capabilities to Microsoft based operating system. 

To install Softex OmniPass for the first time on a system:

1. Run the setup program that you can find it under "Softex OmniPass" folder in driver CD.

2. Follow the directions displayed in the Softex OmniPass installation program. Specify a path name in which you want Softex OmniPass to be installed.

3. Reboot your system when prompted by the setup program. Once the system is running again, you can use Softex OmniPass software.

Please refer OmniPass User Guide, that can be found under "OmniPass User Guide" folder in driver CD, to operate and update the Softex OmniPass software .
