Installation Procedure with Screenshots

Plug the U111 into your USB port. Windows will detect it and launch the 'New Hardware Wizard'

If your PC asks you whether it should connect to the Internet to search for a driver you can say 'No, not this time'

Insert the USB PC Card Reader Installation CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.

Now select 'Install the software automatically'

Click 'Next' and wait for the software to install

When it has finished Windows will give you a message to confirm. You can click 'Finish'

With the card reader now working, insert the Novatel Wireless Merlin card (if you have not done so already). Windows will recognise this as another new hardware item, and start the Wizard again.

Make sure that the U111 driver CD-ROM is inserted in your CD-ROM drive, then click 'Install the software automatically'

If you get a message warning you that the software is not WHQL approved, click 'Continue Anyway'

The required drivers for the Merlin card will then install.

Again, Windows will show you a message to tell you when this is done. Click on Finish.

The hardware wizard will then start again. Follow the same process to install the second port on the Novatel Wireless card.

Your U111 and Merlin card are now installed. You will need to intall the software ("dashboard") that your operator has supplied you with in order to browse the web, send emails and text messages. The dashboard software will automatically configure the modem with correct settings for connection to your mobile ISP.

Some dashboard applications have trouble recognising the Merlin card in the USB adapter, if this is the case, check on your provider's website for updated software. If no update is available that fixes the problem, the you can manually create a connection to the Internet using our Network Connection guide
